Two high schools out of nineteen in Columbus had all of their seniors pass all five sections of the Ohio Graduation Test. Two other schools had nearly 30 percent fail at least one section. Schools with a higher percentage of minority or economically disadvantaged students did far worse. Before the test became a graduation requirement, the Columbus Africentric Early College High School had one of the highest graduation rates in the city. This year, however, it had the highest percentage of seniors who did not graduate, 29 percent, because they failed one or more sections of the OGT.

At risk students from Princeton High School found themselves studying at an alternative school. Many of these students did not pass the Ohio Graduation Test, but they were still able to receive a diploma. Ombudsman Educational Services is a company that runs alternative schools nationwide and is capable of distributing diplomas across state lines. This enabled twelve students to receive diplomas who otherwise could not. These diplomas are not recognized by the state of Ohio. Seven other students in the program even earned diplomas from Princeton by completing all graduation requirements, including passing the OGT.
