Now-retired teacher Bob Guy says that the curriculum has changed since he started teaching 35 years ago. He saw a trend a teaching more skills needed to pass the Ohio Graduation Test, particularly in the field of special education. He feels that the change was necessary for those students, particularly if they had a learning disability.

An article in the Toledo Blade claims that females are performing better than their male counterparts in many aspects of education. Aside from contributing more students to the top percentages of graduating classes, girls are getting higher scores on standardized tests. In Toledo Public Schools, girls outperform boys in 18 of the 23 tests from 3rd grade through the Ohio Graduation Test.
