Delphos City School Superintendent Bruce Sommers is happy with the district's improvement on the Ohio Graduation Test. The sophomores who were tested all scored over 80 on all parts of the test, except science.
Ottoville Superintendent Larry Moore expects a more difficult test in the future, but maintains that the goal will be to exceed their own performance.
Students in Elida and Fort Jennings did extremely well on the test. Elida Superintendent Don Diglia says that the district has developed "data academies" to increase performance.

Ohio Graduation Test petition not likely to succeed

Springfield Opportunities Industrialization Center student Kristen Davis sent a petition to Gov. Strickland as well as other officials to allow students who do not pass the Ohio Graduation Test to walk at commencement. The state board, however, refuses to overstep its authority with regards to leaving the decision up to local school districts.

Preliminary results are soon to be released. The school districts in Ashtabula County are seeking their second consecutive year of improvement. Geneva Area Schools passed all ten state indicators on 10th and 11th grade tests, and have met graduation requirements. Pymatuning Valley and Buckeye Local School Districts both maintained their effective ratings.
