An article in the Community Newspapers of Greater Dayton that summarizes local achievements in 2006 notes that Oakwood High School scored second highest this year statewide in the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT).
Oakwood High, in the upscale south Dayton suburb of the same name, ranked second in the state for students passing all parts of the Ohio Graduation Test. Some 95.4 percent of Oakwood sophomores passed all parts of the test on their first try. The only district with a higher figure was Chagrin Falls Local Schools near Cleveland, with a 98.1 percent passage rate.
Bishop Alter High School led the Dayton-area private schools with a 98.8 percent passage rate.
Now that the OGT is a regular part of the Ohio high school experience, students are getting accustomed to preparing for the hurdle. The Class of 2007 is the first group of graduates required to pass all five parts of the OGT in order to receive a diploma.
Preparation tools for the OGT abound on the market. Among the best are the Internet-based practice tests such as the one offered by IQ-ity that are student-friendly and allow for careful parent-teacher monitoring.
