OGT News: Preparing for the OGT: Cincinnati Wyoming Adds Days
Wyoming High School in suburban Cincinnati will give students more time to prepare for the Ohio Graduation Test by ending the first semester of classes on January 12 instead of January 19 and lengthening the school's third quarter to 52 days - four more than usual. The change gives students an extra week of classes before the OGT is administered in March.
District spokesperson said the OGT takes about a week of instructional time out of the high school schedule, so the juggling will make up for some of the lost hours and give students more preparation time.
The school board president was quoted as saying "every day matters in Wyoming."
The change only applies to Wyoming High School and not to other schools in the district.
Preparation is key in passing the OGT. Dozens of practice tests and preparation tools are on the market. IQ-ity's online preparation tool is "home grown," designed by Ohio educators for Ohio students.
